FDM Maintains “Excellent” A- Rating From AM Best for 5th Consecutive Year

Fire Districts of New York Mutual Insurance Co., Inc. (FDM) has once again earned an “A-” (Excellent) Financial Strength Rating (FSR) and an “a-” Long-Term Issuer Credit Rating (ICR) from AM Best. The reaffirmation, effective Oct. 8, 2025, marks the fifth consecutive year that FDM has maintained its Excellent rating — continuing a legacy of financial stability that dates back to the company’s initial FSR assignment in 1990.

“AM Best has assigned a Financial Strength Rating of ‘A-’ (Excellent) and a Long-Term Issuer Credit Rating of ‘a-’ (Excellent) to FDM. The outlook assigned to these Credit Ratings (ratings) is Stable,” reported AM Best. “The ratings reflect FDIG’s very strong balance sheet , strong operating performance , and its appropriate enterprise risk management (ERM).”

AM Best, one of the world’s most respected insurance rating organizations, assigns an “A-” rating to companies demonstrating excellent financial strength and an ability to meet ongoing policyholder obligations.
